Nomenclatural type: ¤ Erwinia Winslow et al. 1920 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Hauben et al. 1998.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Erwinia, type genus of the family; -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Erwiniaceae, the family whose nomenclatural type is the genus Erwinia.
