Streptococcaceae Deibel and Seeley 1974, familia.
Type genus: ¤ Streptococcus Rosenbach 1884 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Streptococcus, type genus of the family; L. suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Streptococcaceae, the Streptococcus family.
